Overview

In the past four decades, internet retailing has significantly increased. However, with this increased prevalence, it is apparent that there was a need for the development of legislation and regulations that not only provided protection for consumers in this online environment, but also to provide a fair playing field for online retailers.

The report examines three claims made against an online software firm, two of which are related to virus infection resulting from the purchase of the firms software, which caused damage to the customer. The third is related to the online methods used to promote the particular business. In this respect, the domain names used by firms comes under particular scrutiny. Based on the outcome of the report, a conclusion is provided in relation to the claims presented.
