Overview

For over a century, the advance and development of the tourism industry has increased its influence on the British economy, culminating in a situation where, by 1999 it was estimated to be contributing 3.6% of the UK annual GDP 

The aim of this paper is to provide an analysis of the six most important contributory factors to the tourism industry sector growth during the time period identified, which includes changes in consumer demand, liberalisation of international transport, advances in media communication, and political, globalisation and technology advances
