Before being demolished and rebuilt in 1777 and 1902, Newgate Prison in London occupied the site that is now dominated by the Old Bailey, probably the UK's most famous court, which is situated just within the boundaries of the City of London. The Prison had been at this location for more than seven centuries and served as London’s main prison for much of its time.
