A person beyond retirement age is unlikely to be able to complete a sprint in under ten seconds or a marathon in less than three hours. Yet this does not mean that at this time of our lives we should be looking to spend our days sitting in a comfortable old chair in our lounge, gazing out of the window and envying those who are fit and healthy, bemoaning the fact that we are not as fit as we use to be.
