Article excerpt: At the time of the creation of the independent state of Pakistan (1947), which Christian members of the senate voted for together with the Muslim sector of the areas community, one could be forgiven for thinking that the rights of religious minorities, of which the Christian's are one of the largest, would be upheld and embraced as the country developed. In other words, it was considered that they would they would be treated with equal respect and enjoy the same rights as those granted to the Islamic and Muslim communities.
