Article excerpt: Grandmothers are amongst the most
difficult people to buy gifts and presents. Either they
appear to have everything that the giver can think of or
they will persist in saying that they do not want a gift.
This is one reason why on birthdays and special occasions
they tend to end up with bathroom products, or favourite
slippers, scarves and other mundane clothing items. If one
studies the expression of the grandmother upon receipt of
such items it is all too apparent that, although they will
be appreciated, these gifts do not inspire excitement.
