Originally, the construction, development and post
completion management of the Skye bridge was contracted for
a period of 27 years. However, due to continuing issues and
controversy surrounding the project, the Scottish Executive
terminated the contract in under ten years and returned the
bridge to public ownership. A subsequent enquiry highlighted
number of issues that had caused the failure of the project.
