The objective of this commissioned report is to advise the potential purchaser of a grade listed building with an assessment of the impact that planning regulations are likely to have on its future redevelopment and/or conversion.
The UK planning laws and regulations are quite rigid,
particularly in relation to the redevelopment or conversion
of properties that have been listed for preservation due to
its historical interest (Cullingworth and Nadin 2002).
Therefore, it is important that the purchaser and their
construction team are aware of the impact of these grades
prior to purchase and, equally important, ensure that the
redevelopment of the property fully complies with the local
planning and listing requirements (Ross 1996).
